In Scripture...

"...each has only what the Lord has given him..."

1 Cor 3:5-9

Accumulating, for what?

This is the spirit of poverty to really get that all we have and will ever need is what our Lord gives us.  We have nothing which means anything; only what our Lord gives each of us.

Sometimes it seems that we are accumulating for what. If accumulations are not part of the given by our Lord, they will have no meaning in our lives. In fact, these accumulations may be part of what holds us back from our relationship with our Lord.

We come into this world naked.  If only we can live in this spirit of poverty and only take what the Lord is giving us each and every day of our lives.  Yes, live day by day.

Can we live as is written in Matthew Gospel, "If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?"

The new life of creation given from the death of our neighbors on September 11th, is the awareness that we have only what our Lord is giving us by clothing us as our Risen Lord clothes the grass of the field.
