In Scripture...

"How much longer will you... uphold the prestige of the wicked?  Let the weak and the orphan have justice, be fair to the wretched and the destitute."

Ps 82:1-4

Discerning within...
inspired by Ignatius Loyola

It seems to me that the Psalmist draws us into The Parable of the Weeds among the Wheat (Mt. 13:24-30)

As the wheat grows the weeds are not pulled; rather, the weeds are left to grow with the wheat.

With the Psalmist, are we crying aloud, how much longer?  Yes, how much longer will we have to live with the weeds within?

We cannot pull the weeds that surround us until we pull the weeds of our false self that live within.  Yes, the very ones that live deep within our being and keep us from nurturing our wheat of goodness.

We must pray to be transformed and ask forgiveness before the weeds of self doubt, poor self image, prejudice, weakness, fear, and all that holds us from the Lord are over taking our wheat of goodness to turn us into unforgiving people.

Rather, we are forgiving people who forgive ourselves and others when we look at our weeds in the light and turn to Christ as people of discernment.
