In Scripture we parallel the events in Mary's life to the events of 9.11...

"On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.  So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him."

John 20:1-2

Mary at the Tomb?

At the tomb, Mary did not come as it is reported in John's Gospel.

Why did Mary not go?

It seems to me, Mary knew Jesus in ways that we will never know Christ.  This gave Mary a knowing that Jesus was about His Father's Business and that His time had come.  Jesus was our Risen Lord!

The tomb was empty; while, Mary's heart was filled with Love that is Jesus.

On the 9.11, family members came to the tomb of the Earth at ground zero.  A tomb that is filled with their loved ones.  They did not know or understand that their loved ones' time had come.  Their missing family were about God's business of being with God in heaven.

As they stand at ground zero with Mary, they know Jesus in ways that they never thought they would...in Christ's suffering on the Cross.

In such sorrow and at the Cross, they cry with pain that can only be healed by the Risen Lord of the Empty Tomb...continued
