In Scripture we parallel the events in Mary's life to the events of 9.11...

"On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, 'Peace be with you.'"

John 20:19

Mary Being with US...

Disciples were in the upper room and surely Mary was with them as they closed and locked the doors and windows. They were hiding in fear. Yes, filled with fear; maybe, for how they had acted during the last few days and maybe, for what had happened to Jesus would happen to them.

Did we not ground our planes; close our symbol of doing business, the Stock Market; go home to our families and close our doors for almost week after the attack of September 11th? Was this done out of fear that what happened at the WTC, Pentagon, and in the field of PA would happen to us?

Like the Apostles we feared for our lives and felt any sense of being normal was gone for ever. It was in Mary being with the Apostles and Mary being with us in spirit on the 11th and all the that we, now and then, were filled with the Spirit of living in the Lord.

Only, in living in the Spirit of the Lord are we able to live with out fear. Love casts out all fear and fills us with love for the Lord, ourselves, and others to live, today, as Christ died and rose for us to live in, through, and with our Risen Lord!
