Paul of the Cross on Interior Temple...
|
Through the mercy of God, I know that I do not desire to know anything else nor to taste any consolation. I desire only to be crucified with Jesus. ~Paul of the Cross' Diary on November 23, 1720 (1st day of Paul's 40 day Castellazzo retreat in Vol. 1 on Page 7) ... understand that this is a great and fruitful way of suffering, most pleasing to God, because the soul thereby becomes indifferent to such an extent that it no longer thinks of sorrow or joy, but solely of remaining conformed to the Holy Will of its beloved Spouse Jesus. It desires, above all else, to be crucified with him, because in this it is more conformable to its beloved God, who during his whole life did nothing but suffer. ~Paul of the Cross' Diary on December 21, 1720 (29th day of Paul's 40 day Castellazzo retreat in Vol. 1 on Page 15) |
